As the year draws to a close, everyone is taking stock. Many view 2020 with COVID in a rather negative light. Not me. I found 2020 to be an exceptionally educational year.
New Beginnings & Return
COVID has changed our daily lives in ways I never thought possible before. It has intensified and clarified things for me that were previously dormant.
Even before COVID, I was intensively exploring new forms of collaboration. I tried out collaboration tools, advocated strongly for cloud applications, and sought workflows to be able to work anywhere and anytime outside of a fixed office.
In 2020, all of this suddenly became a large part of everyday life. Working from home became a reality, teams had to find new forms of collaboration, and leadership structures were put to the test.
I think this has been good for all of us. I hope we can shift back a gear from this extreme year and return to normality. This normality should incorporate what we’ve learned, so it doesn’t feel like a step backward.

Video Training
2020 was also the perfect year for further education. Not in the sense of large courses with multi-week in-person events. But for personal development with books, YouTube, and other sources.
For example, I have further developed my video skills. From the beginning of the remote setting, I strived to literally present a better image in web calls. I began to improve the video feed with hardware and software. And I learned how to make webinars interactive via video, not just as a frontal presentation.
In doing so, I discovered the world of streaming and developed a completely new way of video editing: live composing instead of post-production. I will apply this knowledge in 2021 and will certainly incorporate it into this blog one way or another.
Applying Learnings
For me, there were further learnings, such as in digital marketing or innovation methods. There was a lot to discover, and I look forward to now using this new knowledge in everyday life.
In this sense: I appreciate 2020 for the opportunity of new beginnings and look forward to 2021, where we can put everything we’ve learned into practice!
