In the last two posts, I showed you how zooms in PowerPoint make your presentation more exploratory and how to create these zooms specifically.
Now I have another tip for you that will definitely make you the zoom superhero of PowerPoint presentations!
Automatic Thumbnails
When creating a zoom overview, PowerPoint automatically generates preview images for each slide. These thumbnails contain the correct link and even automatically adjust when you make changes to individual slides later.

Now these preview images look a bit square. They are just slides. That’s not particularly clever.
Vs. Stylish Thumbnails
It would be more interesting if we could use custom-designed thumbnails. For example, transparent PNGs that perfectly blend into the background of the slide.
Guess what: that’s exactly what’s possible. It’s even quite simple and just a right-click away.

Click on one of the automatically generated preview images and select the command “Change Image”. Now you can choose your own thumbnail. The function of the zoom and the embedded link don’t change, only the appearance can be made a bit more stylish.

As a small service, here’s the video again that shows you how impressive the zoom effect looks in PowerPoint.
And also my example file, in which you can immediately try out for yourself how to create zooms.
