PowerPoint is the death of all presentations? Nonsense. PowerPoint can absolutely perfectly support or even complement a presentation – as a designer, you just need to put in a little effort.
Flipped Presentations
Admittedly, PowerPoint presentations have a major disadvantage: the presenter determines the pace. They click through the slides and the audience is expected to follow. To counteract this, I have been advocating for Flipped Presentations for years – give your PowerPoints to the audience in advance. Then the viewers can take notes directly in the presentations on their laptops, tablets, or smartphones.
PowerPoint Live
Now there is a second option available immediately: PowerPoint Live! The online version of PowerPoint allows you to give the audience a code at the beginning of the presentation. With the code, the viewers then receive the slide set on their device, can move back and forth, and also take notes right away. Even better: they also get the subtitles for your presentation in their desired language. And the best part? It also works remotely – the function is directly integrated into Microsoft Teams.
Currently, the new function is being rolled out worldwide – at some point, it will automatically appear in your cloud version of PowerPoint.
