Time Blocking in Mac Calendars

A quick practical tip for everyone who plans their appointments and todos on a Mac – people like me 😊 I like to use the time blocking method for my daily routine. I look at my todo list for the day or week and block slots in my calendar where I tackle specific todos.

This is very simple on a Mac: You can simply drag and drop a todo into the calendar to the desired slot, and an appointment is automatically created. It actually doesn’t matter which app you use to organize your tasks: Things, OmniFocus, or even the built-in Reminders app. The system’s native calendar can be populated this way from any other program.

@Haeme: It’s even easier if you use Fantastical. There you can see the todos and the calendar in a combined interface. Tasks can also be easily dragged into the calendar with the mouse and assigned to specific slots. A second option in Fantastical: simply right-click on the task and “duplicate as event”. This does the same thing, and if a due date and time are defined in the task, then the calendar slot is filled in correctly right away.
